July 2009 - Greenville – Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital & Nursing Home’s Bike & Boat Benefit Ride proved to have another successful year. This year’s group of 38
dedicated riders raised over $5000 towards cardiac services at C.A. Dean.
The winners of this year’s event included Barbara Richardson with the most dollars raised with a total of $600. The youngest rider to complete this
year’s event was Susanah Huettner, age 5, with the oldest rider prize going to Richard Schenk, age 60.
After completing the 18-mile bike ride to Rockwood, cyclists embarked on the historic steamship Katahdin for their trip back to Greenville. In addition
to all of the riders, the C.A. Dean Bike & Boat Benefit Ride Committee would also like to thank our numerous sponsors, and our dedicated group of
volunteers who helped to organize the event along with the Greenville High School Key Club for staffing pit stops along the bike route.
Plans for next year’s Bike & Boat Benefit Ride are already underway. People interested in riding or volunteering can call Jeri Gilbert, Bike & Boat
Chairperson at 695-5218.
