Psychologist Joshua Lawrence has been named the new Director of Psychology for The Acadia Hospital. Dr. Lawrence has worked at Acadia since 2008 and was previously psychology services supervisor.
A State of Maine Licensed Psychologist, Dr. Lawrence graduated from the University of Connecticut with a PhD in clinical psychology.
He works with children, adolescents and adults at the hospital, and provides evaluations, consultations, individual and group therapy. “My interests include eating disordered behaviors, mood disorders, the influence of attachment on mental health, early detection of psychotic illnesses and gender-issues. I am looking forward to my new role at Acadia and further integrating the role of psychology in the care of our clients,” commented Dr. Lawrence.
Dr. Lawrence’s duties involve oversight of the Psychology Department and Aware Program, and he also serves as the project director for the Aware Program Bingham Grant, and works with Eastern Maine Medical Center’s Surgical Weight Loss Program.
In his new role Dr. Lawrence will report to Brent Scobie, VP of Clinical Services at Acadia Hospital. “Josh has been a valuable member of our team over the past few years and he has earned the opportunity to oversee our psychology services,” commented Scobie.
